When presenting Microsoft products to potential customers I use my laptop and virtual machines stored on an external hard drive. Currently I am using Western Digital MyBook 500 GB. It’s a good hard disk and I’m very satisfied with it.
Every time you arrive at your customer’s location you need to power up your virtual machine and VMs. VM tends to be much slower in the first minutes of system operation. It can be a problem when you are presenting an application to a new customer, since he might think that application you are presenting is way too slow.
Therefore I made a script that will warm up your Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0. This script will call all major screens of CRM, so all required compilation and caching will be done before you start displaying it to your customers.
- Download script
- Unpack it to your virtual machine
- Modify StartupCRM.bat file; replace “localhost:5555” with your CRM URL and port
- Run StartupCRM.bat
(Similar script already exists for SharePoint 2007.)
If you want this script to be run automatically on startup, place your script to Startup folder in your Windows menu.
