PerformancePoint becomes a part of SharePoint 2007 Enterprise Edition
Posted by: Toni Frankola In: SharePoint
Last week Microsoft announced that PerformancePoint scorecarding and dashboarding capabilities will now become part of SharePoint Enterprise CAL and available to customers who are on SharePoint SA. This means that customers who want to deploy PerformancePoint can do so today at no additional cost.
This is GREAT news for all enterprise customers; you will not have to pay for (very expensive) PerformancePoint licenses just to get scorecards and reports. Now you can use your existing SharePoint infrastructure to deploy these functionalities. Most customers I spoke with were interested in PerformancePoint as a solution, but in most cases it was too expensive to implement. Check differences between SharePoint editions here.
For partners this is an opportunity to sell more enterprise CALs, or to extend existing implementations with some additional reporting and PerformancePoint capabilities.
PerformancePoint Server 2007 will no longer be available as a standalone item after April 1, 2009.
